Old Notebooks
I like old notebooks a lot. As a matter of fact, the only thing that's better than an old notebook is a brand-new notebook with nice paper and a sturdy cover. (Barely-used notebooks are untrustworthy and should be discarded. If a journal is written in irregularity, say once a month or so, it's not really a journal. In fact, a journal of this kind could very well be a plant to throw you off of a trail, or the product of a fairly uninteresting mind.
Anyway, Rus sent me a link to an online version of a very old, well-used notebook. If you can do any translation of written Chinese (not sure if it's Mandarin or Cantonese, or even how that works for writing...) then you should get busy contributing to the project!

re you saying that a journal is only a journal if you write in it every day?
No, there's no hard-and-fast rule about how often you have to write in it. If you find yourself missing entire weeks, though, then you're probably not journaling at all. It becomes something else, something other-than-a-journal. (Not "worse" or "less," but certainly different.)
