Nonlinear

I've finally finished with the (canonical) Dune books, and have moved to the next set of Neal Stephenson books-starting with Diamond Age.

Stephenson is prone to non-linear (or non-chronological, anyway) narratives, so I wasn't terribly surprised to find that the story was jumping from one period to another with regularity.

I just realized that my MP3 player was set to 'shuffle'...

Brilliant, and so true. I know someone who had a similar experience listening to audio lectures by Rikk Watts, our NT prof - it took them a while to notice there were too many tangents even for our favourite Australian Pentecostal! :)
