Personally, I've found that university lectures and conference recordings on Kierkegaard, spiritual discipline, and Pauline doctrine make for excellent listening on long trips. (7 hours, 7 classes!)
Also: listening to the entire Yes discography on a long trip will cause disturbing epiphanies about the link between relativistic time travel and Greyhound buses.
