Retainer

It's the strangest thing.
I was tidying up the cabin: sorting through last year's childhood psychology notes and the previous year's pile of odd socks. I moved on to the desk drawer, cleaning out the relics of yesteryear and replacing them with the tokens of this summer... And there it was.
I'm not sure, but it could be significant that I was listening to Vaughan Williams' Five Variants on Dives and Lazarus at the time.

What a horrid thing. What a stirring memory. 2001-2003, some of the most formative years of my life.

I think I'll put it back in the drawer.
